Design Team Tuesday with Shemaine

Hi there and thanks for stopping by today! It's my day to host a little eye candy on the Unity blog and I am thrilled to be here. Since I've just joined the team I thought I'd share a little about myself:
I live in sunny So Cal with my family right next to LAX. My son is 13 and my daughter is 3. They both just celebrated birthdays in July and Aug.
Yep...they are 10 years and 2 weeks apart. I know, who does that! Well I didn't plan such a big gap between my kids but it just happened that way and lucky for me my son is an amazing big brother and a wonderful help to his mom. Love that boy so much!

I've been scrapbooking for 13 years now and I found Unity blog hopping back in November of 2008. One Hip Hop and I was hooked! Thank goodness for Hip Hop, haven't we all made so many amazing friends celebrating each week and chatting it up in the Unity forum? It's been a blast going to CHA each year and meeting some of you fabulous girls in person too. SO much fun!
When I am not scrapbooking I am cheering for my Los Angeles Dodgers (yea we stink this year)
and spending as much time as I can with my family at the beach and hanging out in LA! We're lucky there is so much to do here.

So that's me...and here's my scrappy eye candy for you today

Supplies: Patterned paper, chipboard, epoxy buttons and border strip are all from the Fresh Print Clothesline. For my stamps I used Circa Journal, Love stamp from love Always and the border stamp from Sweet Loving and Living

I won a huge Little Yellow Bicycle prize pack from the PaperCrafts Gallery Idol contest and I have been determined to use it up. My dear friend Heidi took this photo of my daughter and I. She really captured a sweet moment for me to record. It was easy to incorporate stamps into the design of this layout. I hope you'll be inspired to scrap a layout with your stamps today too!

Thanks again for spending some time with me here today! I hope your Tuesday is full of creativity and joy!

We're chatting today over at the Unity Facebook Page so stop by and say hi at 10:00 am Central time and that will be 8 a.m. Pacific for me.

i love scrapbooking.
love. it.
i miss it.
..and for now i am FAR too busy to dive in - so i need to live vicariously through others... just for the time being.
i was introduced to it about 10 years ago by my friend susan.
we opened a scrapbook store together.
my favorite part of owning the store was picking out what was going to be IN the store.
that was when the idea of having my OWN LINE of SOMETHING first occurred.
10 years later.
here we are with unity....seems a bit like a dream come true.
however, the unity line of stamps has mostly focused on CARD MAKING....which i assure you will continue
i am looking forward to EVER EXPANDING, every growing and i know, like i know, like i know that mixed media and scrapbooking are a HUGE passion of so MANY WOMEN, myself included.
we saw a need to add more amazing and stellar talent to our design team.
so starting today - unity is welcoming 3 more girls.
to the
Unity Scrapbooking Design Team
poor Jen Erickson has been playing alone far too long....right Jen?
these girls were hand picked at random and brought to my attention by various people several time with no specific connection.
don't you just LOVE how that happens.
i sure do.
makes me happy.
i am VERY MUCH looking forward to welcoming them to our family.

i have been SO BUSY that there has not been a TON of COMMUNICATION leading up to this date, however I feel as though they are already understanding that and just going with the flow.

Growing in Unity and Unity Addicts Challenge

Hello Wednesday!! It's Maria Levine here with Growing In Unity and this week's Unity Addicts Challenge.

This week's Growing in Unity gal is Tracy. She will be inspiring you all week with some super fabulous projects. Here is a little something about Tracy:

"I have been scrapbooking in one form or the other since high school when it was cool to cut out words from magazines and paste them with your pictures in albums. Although I am slowly trying to convert those albums, most of my albums are now filled with my family and I went from magazine clippings to stamps and embellishments. I started making hand made cards a few years back and really took off with it when I discovered Unity in October 2008. A friend had me check out a Hip Hop Thursday and I was hooked!

I live in Western Massachusetts with my wonderful husband and 2 amazing kiddos, a 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son. I also have had the privilege of helping my husband raise my 23 year old step daughter. I hold a degree in Criminal Psychology. but at this time in my life I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to be home with my kids and for my husband. I will eventually go back to work and am looking into teaching. Until that time, taking care of my home and family, my children's schedules, volunteering at the school and stamping & scrapbooking keep me very busy."

Here is a beauty from Tracy which is also this week's Unity Addicts Challenge:

Be sure to stop by Tracy's blog all week for lots of inspiration! At the end of the week Tracey will pick a random winner from all her comments to win a Unity prize!

Thanks to all who played along last week with our" stamp on anything but paper" challenge. The winner will be annouced in the forum. Now it's time for a new challenge, this week's Unity Addicts Challenge is Black and White with a POP of color. Our challenge guest this week is Anne. Thanks Anne for a fun challenge this week.

Check out what Anne made for this challenge:

That pink butterfly does pop off the card. Love what you did Anne!

Be sure to swing on by the Unity Challenges Forum to play along this week. There is a chance at an awesome Unity Kit for one random player!

If you have a challenge idea we want to hear it, come by this thread to let us know. Maybe you will be the next Unity Addict Challenge Guest!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Till next week!

Design Team Tuesday with Wendy

Good morning everyone!!

Its Wendy here!! Its design team Tuesday, and I'm checking in today.

August is here and we're running down the last days of summer with the annual back to school routines. It has been unusually mild season for us here on the West Coast, and I wonder what winter will bring.

By day, I work in a very high stress job, and Unity and stamping helps me to preserve my sanity. My style switches and changes depending on my mood - on purpose. I never want to get to the point where I am "done" growing in my creative self. When I feel myself getting too formulaic, I tend to go out and search for something to shake it up a bit. It keeps it fresh and fun.

Today, I was in a shabby chic mood, and so my sample is very old english garden-ish.
Other than the stamps from Unity's August Kit of the Month, this card is old school - Making Memories and Lil Davis Design.  The label sticker is Basic Grey; the ribbon is from the yummy box of Godiva chocolates someone gave me.  It is GORGEOUS ribbon. :)

So today, I leave you with a quote from a very inspirational book I am reading right now (Three Cups of Tea)

"Let nothing perturb you, nothing frighten you.  All things pass.
God does not change.  Patience achieves everything."
Mother Teresa

Patience.  Yes.  Something I need to work on and something I have been cultivating as I have picked up knitting again to do during all those long summer road trips...

Happy Tuesday!!  -Warmest wishes, wendy
