Growing in Unity

Our GIU gal this week is Kristy!

Meet Kristy:

Here is a little something about Kristy:

"Hi!  I am very excited to be the Growing in Unity girl this week.  I love that Unity Stamp Company has so much variety to choose from – from chic to humorous.  I’ve had fun creating all my projects for my Growing in Unity and using a little bit of each.

Stamping has always held a special place in my heart…which has blossomed into card making, scrapping and general memory keeping.  Today, I find my crafting time to be my sanity.  I am very lucky to have a wonderfully supportive husband.  Without him, I wouldn’t be able to sneak a few hours here and there to craft.  I am a stay at home mom to 2 bundles of joy (…and energy).  Both my son and daughter like to get into my scrap room and play with my stamps, papers and buttons – especially the buttons!  I love that I can make a record of memories – and not just holidays and special occasions, but everyday moments too!  I will continue to create, mostly just for this Mama’s Sanity.

I hope you have enjoyed my projects this week.  You can see all my projects on"

FWF Linky!

Wow, July really flew right on by, didn't it!? Welcome back to another FWF linky party and the last day of July! I'm going to get personal in a hot second, so bare with me.

Today, my hubby and I are moving out of our little home of 6 years. Why didn't anybody tell me how hard it would be to say goodbye to an apartment?! Us and our two little doggies are driving five states away to make a new home for ourselves. The most exciting part is that we have purchased our first home! I'm sad to say goodbye to my neighborhood that I love so much, but I'm excited to make new memories in MY house where I can paint the walls whatever color I want!!!

This is what our new house looks like! :) I made this card for our anniversary a couple weeks ago. Once again I combined an oldie stamp with a newbie stamp. The house from "Housewarming" was color with Copics and fussy cut. In the background I stamped and embossed in gold this fabulous dream dictionary stamp from the June 2015 SMAK - World of Wonders.

Alright enough about me. Now we want to see what YOU have been working on with Unity Stamps!

sand dollar stamping

Hello my AMAZING friends!

A friend of mine shared a quote with me a little while ago...

"You wake up every morning to fight the same demons that left you so tired the night before, and that, my love, is bravery."

I have no idea who originally said that, but it was something that I really needed to hear.

I was thinking of that today while crafting, and it inspired this ornament..

The quote is from Warmth of Winter, and the heart is from Create Today.

This is stamped on a sand dollar... Yes, a real sand dollar I picked up at the beach a while ago. I thought it would be a fun little gift for someone having a tough time, but these would make SUPER cute little vacation mementos as well, just by changing the images used!

Stamping on a rounded surface can be a bit of a challenge... However, it is possible. The trick is to leave the stamp UNMOUNTED... Don't stick it onto an acrylic block... this allows the stamp to bend around the curve of the surface.

Check out this little video to see what I mean...

Have a wonderful day, be creative, and stay BRAVE!

DT Tuesday with Camille Robinson

I think Tuesday might be one of my favorite days of the week on the Unity blog. This post is fun because we get to spotlight a couple of projects we LOVE made by Unity enthusiasts like YOU!  Let’s start today’s post by doing just that.

First up is an UBER adorable card put together by Cornelia Wenokor. It really caught my eye and captured my heart! Wouldn’t you love to get this for your birthday?! The glasses are such the perfect touch. Bravo, Cornelia!

Here’s a link to Cornelia’s blog post, let’s leave her some LOVE:

Next up is Melissa Czapor’s gorgeous project she put together as a gift to give another woman. I LOVE everything about it. I’d love to get it and would display it proudly in my home.

Both of these creations were found on the Unity {Show & Tell} Facebook page.  Here’s a link, so you can join and share your creations with other Unity lovers, too:

Next up is an 8-1/2-x-11-inch scrapbook layout I put together showcasing a few pictures and journaling from our family’s trip to this year’s California State Fair in Sacramento, California. I even did a quick little video, so you can see how it came together. Please watch!

california state fair

I used Unity’s Kit of the Month, Halo Dirty, to embellish my layout. You can literally put that camera on anything scrap related and call it DONE! The zigzag ribbon is another staple embellishment to add to your rubber stamp arsenal that you can use over and over again.

Here’s a QUICK video capturing the process of my layout.

I’m sure around this time of year, we’re all visiting our county and state fairs. I think my favorite part of the fair is strolling the carnival area and holding my hubby’s hand while we watch our children take it all in. OH—and I love the deep fried moon pie!

Have a great week and get out there and visit your local fair with the ones you LOVE!

KOM 7/15 Halo Dirty

Hi Unity Peeps!!!
It's Noelle posting today.
It is already almost the end of the month and I am still swooning over this kit!!!
Goodness, it is FANTASTIC!!!
Halo Dirty!!
$26.00 for a full 8.5 x 11 sheet of the world's BEST Red Rubber :) You should sign up if you have not already.  Stalking the mailman is so FUN!!!
I had a huge cleaning fest with the family today [Sunday when this posts].  All 4 of us cleaned like it was our job!!
So the ice creams totally spoke to me.  We much prefer taking our girls out for ice cream than cleaning!!  Plus I need a birthday card for my neighbor!  SCORE!!!
You might notice I have a banner obsession.  I'm not sorry.  I can't ever get tired of them!!  So I used two different ones on the same card.  *swoon* I love how the stamps fit so well!!  The glossy accents on the glass and dripping chocolate is still wet, it did not photograph well.
My sister stamps her envelopes for every card.  I am the little sister.  So I do what she does.  Some times it takes me years, but I always do it eventually. :) I didn't emboss or use glossy accents on the envelope but I did use colored pencils and blended with turpenoid on both the card and the envelope.
Thank you so much for stopping by today.
We sure appreciate it!

Saturday SMAK/LOL day !!

Hello Unity peeps,

It's Saturday, so SMAK/LOL day.
I made a page for my journal
with the SMAK from June.

The mask I used is a new one from
 Donna Downey.
This was my start!!

Click here to join the club of SMAK members!!

This is the July SMAK, I love it!!!

You know that I am a great fan of the LOL;
these stamps are so usable
I collected all of them from the
start and I've used them all.
It's so easy that they're themed
and that way always coordinate with each other.

So for this tag I used the 'be brave be happy'
kit from March.

Did you see the video Angela has made
 from my work?
I was so proud that I am using it again.

Stamp of the Week Reminder - So Glad We're Friends

Good morning! Heather Hoffman here this morning to share a card I made with this weeks Stamp of the Week - there are only 2 more days to sign up to get this stamp - a brand new one starts on Sunday!

Here is what I made:

Lots of layers and texture - and some simple Copic coloring.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a beautiful day!

Friend with Flair Link Up!

Hey happy stampers! It's Rachel back with you to celebrate another Friends with Flair Friday!

I love going back through alllll of my Unity stamps and finding some older ones that I just LOVED! I combined some of the old with some of the new to create this fun nautical crabby card.

Remember the other week when I said I needed to catch up on birthday cards? This sweet card can work for ANYTHING so I'm definitely counting it as another birthday card in the bucket.

I stamped the old "Leave the Crab" image and colored her up with Copic markers. As I was combing through my stamp sets, I saw the "oh SNAP!" sentiment from "Peas, Peas, Peas" and KNEW I had to use it with the crab! Then I added the second sentiment, (happy whatever), from the June 2015 Sentiment Kit - Frankly Said.

Alright now it's YOUR turn! Share what you've created with Unity this week!!

Inspiration Wednesday with Kary

What inspires you to create with Unity Stamps?  I'd love to hear your process and see what you create.  For me, it's always the stamp image and the first picture that comes to mind.  I'll try and share how I go about creating a card today.

Everybody loves Phyllis Harris stamps and so do I! :)  I am so taken by this girl on the beach and the lovely sentiments in the set - The Unknown Path.

My first thought was to break up the sentiment "live. breathe. surf." and stamp the words on her surfboard.  I also like the other sentiment and I think there's enough space for it to be stamped to the top left side of the image.

My favorite color is teal - I find there's bits of teal in every card I make.  Since the surfboard is my focal point, it has to be teal (Copics BG 10, BG53, BG57) and for some contrast I drew some wavy lines at the bottom of the surfboard (YR21, YR02).  Next, I needed a soft color for the girl's swimsuit, peachy pink is perfect (R14, R12, R11).  The girl's hair and skin are colored with YR23, YR24, E15 and E13, E02, E50.

The sea is colored using B99, B91, BG02, BG11, B21, sand (E31, E11, E55, E000) and skies (BG70, BG10).  After coloring the sea, I thought it looked a little flat and I used white gel pen in some areas for interest.

Here's the finished card:
I die cut the image and adhere it onto a pale orange scalloped die-cut. The bow was added because I placed the sentiment too far left and there was a little white space before the image.  I punched two small holes and tied a silk ribbon around the striped patterned paper.  I thought it would be fun to add the striped patterned paper below the image as it kind of goes with the sea and the waves :)

That's it!  That's my process.  I would love to read yours!!  Let me know by leaving a comment here and a link to your blog so I can visit you.

Have a great day and hope you have lots of fun with your stamps!!
